Shoe trends for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012

20121022-081312.jpg

Shoe trends for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 are as diverse as ever so that every woman could find something for herself. If we speak about the color scheme, then the trendiest tones for the upcoming fashion season are: black, white, stone, metallic, beige, burgundy, dark blue, chocolate, deep violet, khaki and red. Bright hues are scarce, which is normal as we prefer wearing darker colors during autumn and winter.

Materials that prevail in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 shoe collections include: ordinary leather, patent and reptile skins, suede and satin. There is also a lot lace and occasional fur this season.

One more thing is worth mentioning before we start enumerating shoe trends for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 – this fashion season both pike and round toes are popular. This means you can stick to your favorite shape of shoe and still be very fashionable.

Now let’s start:

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #1: Reptile skins. Reptile leather is going to be very trendy during Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012. Dozens designers opted for snake skin to create their shoes from. Crocodile leather isn’t as popular but it is still widely found in Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 footwear ranges. For reptile skins see Balenciaga, Giorgio Armani, Chloe, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Valentino and other collections.

20121022-081537.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #2: Patent leather. This type of leather maybe a bit unpractical to wear and less versatile than ordinary leather, but no one will ever argue on the fact patent leather looks gorgeous. For Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 you can go for super bold color combinations like red and black, black and white, blue and burgundy. See how Mark Jacobs, and Viktor & Rolf use color blocking in their Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 shoe collections.

20121022-081647.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #3: Suede. Good suede looks luxurious and designers know that better than others because almost every fashion season we see thousands of different shoe designs made of this material. During Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 suede is very trendy and it comes in a variety of shades. Diane von Furstenberg offers a lot of styles to choose from.

20121022-081728.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #4: Satin. Satin shoes can hardly be worn daily but for special occasion they are the best. Looking totally chic satin shoes come as a very beautiful shoe trend of Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012.

20121022-081810.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #5: Platforms and wedges. Wedge trend has transferred to Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 from the previous season. But if in Spring/ Summer 2011 we have seen colorful and unusual platforms for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 designs are more modest and elegant.

20121022-081853.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #6: Lacing. As well as the wedge trend, lacing has been brought by designers from Spring/ Summer 2011 fashion season. And we also see the transformation of the style. Lacing, which used to be rather delicate and feminine in Spring, has become sexier and more aggressive in Fall and Winter. See Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone for lacing.

20121022-081935.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #7: Plenty of buckles. Fashion repeats itself. A couple of seasons ago we already spoke about buckles but then they nearly all disappeared just to return now in a larger diversity.

20121022-082024.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #8: Chunky heel. It is quite reasonable that chunky heels appear during colder seasons as they provide comfort and confidence we all need at this time. In Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 collections there are plenty of shoes with chunky heels. Styles of these shoes are very different, from classy pumps to rocker boots.

20121022-082129.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #9: Spike heels. Chunky heels are comfy but they will never be as stylish and sexy as spike heels, that’s why designers always create loads of shoes with stilettos. Women love them because they love looking sexy.

20121022-082217.jpg

Shoe Trend for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 #10: Socks in shoes. Few women really like wearing socks in their shoes but after Rihanna appeared in public sporting pumps with a pair of socks millions of her fans started copying her. If socks in shoes seem too much for you try warm tights instead. At least you will look more elegant.

Oversize is Hot for the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 season

We often hear that clothes should fit perfectly. This is considered as one of the most important fashion rules. However, Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 season offers us to forget about any rules and start experimenting in a BIG way. And when I say BIG I really mean it. Big and Oversize are going to be cool this season! Everything from cocoon coats to billowing trousers will be filling your wardrobe soon and all you will need is a couple of advice on how to make those look stylish.

What oversize items to wear
Coats – Coats come big this season, big and beautiful. Jil Sander coats are feminine and delicate. Mary Katrantzou and Francesco Scognamiglio coats are adorned with mesmerizing prints. Gucci and Moschino coats feature military elements.

20121012-102556.jpg

Jackets, Sweaters, Cardigans and Tops – The variety is even larger here. Puffy rounded sleeves, asymmetrical hemlines, huge eccentric collars – are just a few elements you will have to choose from if you decide to buy an oversized top, jacket or a cardigan. Designers, who have presented their versions of these trendy items are Balenciaga, Chloe, Ports 1961 and others.

Trousers – We haven’t How to wear oversize fashion
Pair your oversize item with something skinny or tight-fitting to create a contrast.
Stay away from accessories to make the focus on an oversize item.
The bigger the better. Use your oversize item one size up. But if you feel you’ve gone too far, use a belt to make sure your figure isn’t swamped.

Alexander McQueen’s Pre-Fall 2012 Shoe collection

When I think about Alexander McQueen’s shoes the first image that comes to my mind is the pair of weird, wild-printed, future-inspired super-high heels that was featured in one of Lady Gaga’s music videos. However, I do know that the brand has a lot more to offer, including stylish pumps and even flat shoes and comfy loafers. And Pre-Fall 2012 collection is not an exception.

20120910-103410.jpg
The range Alexander McQueen label has presented for Pre-Fall 2012 season is very diverse. It is composed of over 50 lovely and at the same time edgy designs, some of which could be perfect for office wear while others are bolder and more youthful.

20120910-103501.jpg

There are sexy stilettos, peep-toe and lace pumps, eye-catchy Mary-Janes and wedges adorned with golden studs, ankle boots with laces, fur, buckles and zippers, knee-high boots and sandals as well as flats with sculls and printed loafers in Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

20120910-103542.jpg
The color scheme of Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2012 collection is already quite autumnal with red, wine, dark violet and brown colors dominating over the other hues. There are a lot of black pairs and quite a few deep green ones.

Louis Vuitton Handbags Pre-Fall 2012 Collection:

There are only a few bag styles in Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 collection but those are enough to provide a fashionista with pieces for every occasion. There are lovely satchels for office wear, shoulder bags to look stylish in streets, bright backpacks, and simple but exquisite clutches.

20120907-171626.jpg

All the bags in Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 range are made of chic high quality leather. Bright colors are a must. Some items come with mixed hues and colors blocked which looks very interesting and unusual.

20120907-171702.jpg

Speaking about designs we have to mention they are rather minimalistic especially compared to Louis Vuitton’s signature designs. However, this freshness is good and will definitely be appreciated by customers. See the whole collection in the gallery below.

Edgy Trend of Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 – Black Leather

Leather skirts
Leather skirts have been a hit this spring and summer but they were colored red, orange, blue, mint and other trendy hues. For fall and winter 2012/ 2013 leather skirts are mostly black. They come in shape of pencil skirts, asymmetrical ones with hemlines of various lengths or skirts adorned with embroidery or embellished with crystals. However, simple skirts without fussy details will be much more in-demand.

20120905-221111.jpg

Leather Dresses
Leather dresses have had a huge comeback recently with both stars and ordinary fashionistas wearing them to a variety of events. Mini and straight-line black leather dresses are the two really popular designs which will continue to rein for at least one more season.

20120905-221142.jpg

Leather coats
Black leather coat is quite a practical item for a colder season when rains are normal phenomena and women have to hide under waterproof garments. Leather coats created by designers for the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 fashion season have A or X silhouettes and finish just right at the knee line or a little higher.

20120905-221223.jpg

Leather Jackets
Leather jackets have been with us forever. Being worn with everything including evening dresses they will keep filling our wardrobes this fall. Black biker jackets, classic pieces, elongated jackets with asymmetrical cuts as well as oversized jackets (Do you remember that oversize is also a trend of the Fall/ Winter 2012/ 2013 season?) which will be trendy during the upcoming season are all hot and chic. Experiment with shapes to find which suits you the best!
